The good thing--if there's a good side to this--is that from what I've read and seen, it sounds like a lot of Californians were shocked when Prop 8 passed in the first place, and that a lot of thinking has been going on since then. As I understand it, they're already working to get a provision onto the ballot for the fall that will undo Prop 8, and things are looking more positive for it.

So all isn't exactly lost, yet.

...

But yeah. I'm pissed.

I was so certain that if absolutely nothing else, it would HAVE to be dropped because the asshats went about the process in the complete wrong fashion. There was supposed to be a slap in the face telling people that if they want to pass stupid (or even good) things, they have to do it in the proper fashion.

*flail*

Plus? California should feel shame - SHAME upon the state - that Iowa beat them to equal rights. Seriously. New York, too.

Except that I think the Prop 8 assholes were very careful to do it properly this time--as an amendment to the state constitution--rather than as a DOMA, as they did with wossname, Prop 22. Because the DOMA was unconstitutional according to the CA constitution, which is why it was struck down.

By amending the state constitution, the Prop 8 people technically did everything right. Except that they are ethically wrong like the wrongest people who ever came from wronglandia.

*grumbles about the difference between an amendment and a revision*

I have an overwhelming urge to fling pouches of flaming poo at certain individuals, but I'm a bigger person than that. I am a grown, mature individual. Who will go now and write gay porn in protest.

Scribbles in Action

What they don't understand, Gordon, is that when you push someone too far, when you take away everything that they care about, then there is no more fear... All you have left is billions of dollars with which to make their lives miserable.
- The Will to Act [Batman: The Dark Knight]

Desperation was plain in [Z's] voice as he begged, "Please, tell me how I can sleep with my boss without being transferred or shot!"
- Z Smut [From Eroica With Love]

"Oh no, House. You've started this; you're my boyfriend now. And you're stuck with it for the next two weeks." Crossing his arms across his chest, he turned a sharp glare on House. "But do you think it's possible that you can pretend to care about someone besides yourself for that long?"
- The Gift That Keeps on Giving [House]

"Nah, he'll be fine." It served him right, anyway. Getting dragged off by an amorous giant squid was a sort of cosmic justice for all the times Jack had flirted with every pretty face in the room.
- The Oncoming Storm [Doctor Who]

"It's your fault," he said without thinking. "I'm Commander Riker to your Captain Picard. We make a great team. And if you say that you don't know who they are, I will buy a television and force you to watch TV Land until you're up to speed on cultural common knowledge."
- Good Times Bad Times [NCIS]
