Google to end China censorship after e-mail breach
Google Inc. will stop censoring its search results in China and may pull out of the country completely after discovering...hacking attacks launched from within China. The apparent goals: breaking into the computers of at least 20 major U.S. companies and gathering personal information about dozens of human rights activists trying to shine a light on China's alleged abuses.

Whether Don't Ask, Don't Tell gets repealed this year depends on Barack Obama
We'll know in a couple weeks, the first week in February, if President Obama is going to include the repeal of DADT in his budget. He promised he would. The ball really is in Obama's court.

Proposition 8 Trial Opens With Emotional Testimony from Couples
The trial that is expected to stretch for several weeks unfolded through the day in a high-stakes atmosphere. The lawyers on both sides, famous nationally, sparred with the judge and fielded his pointed questions. The courtroom was packed with lawyers, media and others, including Hollywood director Rob Reiner. Outside the courthouse, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in the morning fog, rallying for and against same-sex marriage.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court's potential impact on the larger gay marriage debate loomed large, with many experts predicting the California case could eventually force the justices to determine whether states have the right under the federal Constitution to deny same-sex couples the right to marry.

Through his questions, Walker seemed intrigued by the idea of solving the gay marriage controversy by taking government out of the marriage licensing business altogether, which would in theory remove the equality argument on both sides.

Scribbles in Action

What they don't understand, Gordon, is that when you push someone too far, when you take away everything that they care about, then there is no more fear... All you have left is billions of dollars with which to make their lives miserable.
- The Will to Act [Batman: The Dark Knight]

Desperation was plain in [Z's] voice as he begged, "Please, tell me how I can sleep with my boss without being transferred or shot!"
- Z Smut [From Eroica With Love]

"Oh no, House. You've started this; you're my boyfriend now. And you're stuck with it for the next two weeks." Crossing his arms across his chest, he turned a sharp glare on House. "But do you think it's possible that you can pretend to care about someone besides yourself for that long?"
- The Gift That Keeps on Giving [House]

"Nah, he'll be fine." It served him right, anyway. Getting dragged off by an amorous giant squid was a sort of cosmic justice for all the times Jack had flirted with every pretty face in the room.
- The Oncoming Storm [Doctor Who]

"It's your fault," he said without thinking. "I'm Commander Riker to your Captain Picard. We make a great team. And if you say that you don't know who they are, I will buy a television and force you to watch TV Land until you're up to speed on cultural common knowledge."
- Good Times Bad Times [NCIS]
